Davis-Standard Cast Film Extrusion System

Davis-Standard's cast film systems are available in single or multi-layer configurations for production of a wide range of films, including LLDPE, PP, polyolefin-based, multi-layer barrier and embossed films. Davis-Standard supplies extruders, feedscrews, coextrusion feedblocks and dies, control systems, surface and turret (center) cast film winders, and complete casting and embossing units. Coextrusion feedblocks are designed in-house and include layer encapsulation, skin shaping and easily changeable plates. Dies are available with features such as single and multi-manifolds, and manual or automatic profile adjustment. The cast film manufacturing facility at ER-WE-PA Davis-Standard in Erkrath, Germany, services the European customer base. Casting equipment features high efficiency cooling rolls available with mirror, matte or engraved finishes. Embossing units have dry and wet embossing capability for a variety of diaper and medical films.
Davis-Standard Cast Film Top Cast Line

For processors requiring rapid installation and start-up, the Top Cast line offers a pre-piped and pre-wired option. The Bi-Trac unit for casting and embossing is designed for use with platform-mounted extruders and is capable of achieving film changeovers in 20 minutes or less.
Davis-Standard Cast Film Dry Embossing Unit

Davis-Standard manufactures casting and embossing equipment for a wide range of film applications. Casting equipment is available with high efficiency cooling rolls with mirror, matte or engraved finishes; embossing units are equipped with dry or wet embossing capabilities for a wide range of films. Secondary cooling rolls can be made to pivot and combination sheet and cast film units are available for thickness ranges of 10 microns to 2.5 mm.
Davis-Standard Cast Film Wet Embossing BiTrac Unit

Designed for use with a platform-mounted extruder, the cost-effective and versatile Bi-Trac is capable of cast to embossed film changeovers (or vice versa) in 20 minutes or less. The unit's dual web path and drive arrangement simplify film conversions and make it possible to process a variety of films all on the same line. It can accommodate web widths up to 132 inches (3353 mm) and features either a gloss or matte roll for cast film and an engraved/rubber roll combination for embossed film. Options available.
Davis-Standard Cast Film Automatic Model 2200 Winder

Davis-Standard's cast film winder offering ranges from simple surface winders to center winders with automatic core and roll handling. Combination center-surface winders are also available. Series 2200 Ideal for winding stretch film wrap, this winder features a servo-index drive with a high rotational speed of approximately one second, eliminating much of the scrap generated during a longer indexing cycle and boosting tension control. The automatic core-feeding system makes it possible to do core loading, roll transfer, check and shaft deflation, shaft extraction, roll unloading and shaft retraction in less than a minute. The winder also features a surface driven lay-on roll that provides a light controllable lay-on force, critical when winding high quality reels of stretch film. It is available in 84-inch (2134 mm) and 104-inch (2642 mm) widths and with a center bearing support for widths up to 180 inches (4572 mm). Horizon Series Turret Winders Designed for winding barrier, lamination and hygienic films, it can produce roll widths as small as 4-inches (100 mm). It features touch screen controls, a short web path, automatic cut/transfer, transducer web control and DC drive units. The winder's linear horizontal lay-on roll contacts the winding roll parallel to the floor, providing precise control of the lay-on pressure. Options include swing out shafts, gap mode winding and in-line slitting. Slitter assemblies can be located close to the winding core for superior roll edges.
Davis-Standard Cast Film Epic III Control System

Davis-Standard's EPIC III is an advanced WINDOWS NT based touch screen extrusion process control system offering complete plant management and process control capabilities. The EPIC features Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), Object Linking and Embedding for Process Control (OPC), networking and multi-tasking features and an extensive security system. EPIC data and files are readily accessible using DDE and OPC to link information with compatible WINDOWS NT programs. Since it's a network compatible system, an entire extrusion plant can be monitored from any networked PC in any office or on the plant floor, and users can integrate their own connection and remotely access data via Net DDE. The EPIC has customized control screens for simplified operation that are co-engineered with the customer to meet exact process requirements. Operators can take advantage of a complete line overview, or can view specific process details, line controls, extruder data and recipes. The system can only be accessed through multiple levels of security to protect critical set-up functions. Supervisory features include event logging, customized reports, SQC, historical trending, maintenance/troubleshooting data and configurable temperature and pressure set-up.
